You are ready to start your first bead scallop. Taking up one of the thread tails, slide about 2 inches of your choice of beads on to it.
Next, slip the needle behind the first string of beads that you already tied to the candle holder. Insert the needle from the top down, adjusting it to where the scallop hangs nicely.
Tie a knot, tying the scallop to the first string of beads. Tie the knot a couple of times hiding it between the beads of the first string.
Now create a second scallop using different beads. I used seed beads and one large pearl type bead.
Tie the second scallop in the same way you did the first. Continue around the vase alternating these two scallop patterns, stopping when you are half way around. Now, take up the other long thread tail and repeat the above steps, working around the vase in the opposite direction. When you get around to almost the halfway point (almost meeting your first set of scallops), you have to look at your sequence of scallops. If you continue to make the last pattern of your scallops, will you have two of the same patterns next to each other? (It will depend on the size of your glass candle holder, and the size you made your scallops.) If this is okay with you, then go ahead and finish. I didn't like the look of having two of the same scallops next to each other. I solved the problem by creating a unique scallop with different beads that hangs just a bit lower than the other scallops. It made a focal point on the front of my beaded candle holder.
