Make a Pringles Can Gift Box: Part 2
A Recycled Craft Project
Now that you've got the can wrapped in scrapbook paper, you need to cut a circle of paper 2-3/4 inches in diameter, to cover the lid. You can use a circle cutter, or a compass, and cut it by hand. If you want to skip this part, you could just tape a bow on the lid. But the can makes such a great little storage container, that it is nice to go ahead and cover the lid too. Now it's time to make the gift tag for your Pringles can gift box. Cut a 1-1/2 inch square of light colored paper. Glue it onto another scrap of paper, and cut it out leaving about a 1/8 inch border. If you like, you can add one more layer of one of the papers you used to wrap the Pringles can in. Punch a small hole in one corner to the tag with a small hole punch. If you don't have a small hole, punch you could use a hammer and nail to make a very small hole, just big enough for your ribbon to go through. You are ready to attach the tag to the can. Punch a small hole in the can about 1/2 inch down from the rim. Again, it only needs to be large enough for the ribbon.

Thread the ribbon through the hole in the tag. If you don't want to use brads, you can then thread it through the hole in the can, tying a knot inside the can. If you want to use brads, thread the ribbon through the tag only, tying a knot in the ends and trimming the ends about a 1/4 inch from the knot. Add a dab of white glue to the knot, to keep it from loosening up. Slip a brad through the hole of the tag and fasten underneath. Finally, put the other brad through the hole of the can, but slip the ribbon of the tag on before spreading the prongs. Press the brad down tight against the ribbon, while spreading the prongs out, inside the can.

Write the recipients name on the tag, add your gift with a little tissue paper, pop the lid back on, and you've got a very unique and beautiful Pringles can gift box!

Recycled craft projects like this one are a great way to keep trash out of our landfills. Spend a couple of hours making gift boxes out of pringles cans and you'll have some unique containers ready when you need them. A great idea for a gift to put inside are hand dipped, chocolate pretzel rods...a great little homemade teacher gift...or for any chocolate lover!
