Return to Decorative File Folders: Step 1

Decorative File Folders: Step 2

If you want to jazz your file folders up even more, you can trim them with ribbon or the scraps you trimmed off earlier. I only used ribbon on the front folder, because it would probably catch on the edges when you are filing folders in and out. Besides, it is the only folder that will be in full view most of the time.

I used wide, wired ribbon and wrapped it around the front panel of the folder. It is held in place with double stick tape.

Finally, I cut a small piece of coordinating ribbon and tied it around the wired ribbon, trimming the edges diagonally.

You could also use the paper strips you trimmed off of your folders. The papers already coordinate with each other. Just trim a piece the size you want and glue it to the front of the folder.

I made these six file folders in less than an hour. You can make as many as you need. They would make beautiful homemade gifts too.

To display your elegant new file folders, keep them in an open file box like this Painted Wooden File Box.
