Return to Craft Beads Jars: Step 1

Craft Beads Jars

Show Your Beads Off!

These craft beads jars are a beautiful way to show off your bead collection, and make elegant homemade gifts for your crafty friends. If you landed here from somewhere else you might want to go to the 1st page of this bead crafts project..

Everyone else, lets carry on. First put your beads on a earring head pin. Snip off the head pin about 7mm above the last bead.

Form a loop at the top by grasping the wire with round nose pliers and curling it around. For more detailed instructions on how to do this, see simple drop earrings.

Once you've formed your beaded dangle for your craft beads jar, just hand-sew it to the center of your ribbon. If you've never done any sewing, don't worry. This is very simple, and I will take you through it step-by-step.

Thread the needle and tie a knot. If you've never done this, watch this video to see how.

Next, fold your ribbon in half to find the middle, and insert your needle in the middle, at the lower edge of your ribbon, from the backside (you want the knot to be hidden in the back of the ribbon). Before pulling the needle all the way through, slip the bead dangle onto the needle.

Pull the thread through, then put your needle back through the front of the ribbon (just a little to the side where the needle came up through). You've made one stitch. Bring your needle back up through the back of the ribbon, and through the loop of the bead dangle. Take another stitch back through the front of the ribbon. Repeat one more time for a total of 3 stitches.

End your last stitch in the back, where you will knot off and cut the thread. To knot off, take a tiny stitch through the ribbon, picking up just a couple threads with the needle, just above your stitches.

Pull the thread almost all the way through, but leave a little loop. Insert your needle through this loop and pull the thread tight. Repeat 3 times, each time inserting the needle through the exact same spot. Trim the thread off about a 1/16" from the knot.

Finally, hot glue the ribbon around the neck of the jar, and you are done! Set your jar of craft beads somewhere where it can catch the sun for lots of sparkle. For more bead projects:
