Quick and Easy Homemade Christmas Ornaments Using Rubber Stamps

I needed three homemade Christmas ornaments and quick! We have a tradition with our kids. Every Christmas I purchase or make an ornament. When they leave home, someday, they will have a nice collection of Christmas ornaments to start decorating their own Christmas trees.

This year, however, I procrastinated badly. When I finally went shopping for ornaments, I couldn't find anything that I liked. So I needed to make Christmas ornaments fast. These handmade, rubber stamped ornaments fit the bill nicely. It only took me about a half hour to make three of them.

You could vary these any way you like, even cut them into squares or rectangles to fit tiny frames, or find round frames, and cut your circles to fit them.

Supplies Needed:

  • dark blue/navy snowflake cardstock (or stamp your own)
  • White cardstock
  • chipboard/cardboard
  • white pigment ink pad
  • black pigment ink pad
  • white embossing powder
  • black embossing powder
  • 1/8 inch ribbon for hanging (about 12 inches)
  • quality markers that won't fade out
  • Snowman stamp - Basically you need one that will fit the size of your ornament. You can adjust the size of the ornament to fit the stamp. (I used an old one I had on hand by Provo Craft)
  • Snowflake background stamp (optional) - if you don't have or can't find snowflake paper. I used Stampin-Up's snowflake wheel.
Tools:

  • sharp scissors (I like cutter bee scissors because they are very sharp and get into the corners easily.
  • embossing gun

Step 1: Cut Out Circles

Decide the size you want your ornament to be, and cut out the snowflake paper with a circle cutter. Cut two pieces for each ornament.

To make the ornament stiffer, I cut matching circles from chipboard to sandwich in between the paper circles. Glue the paper circles to the chipboard, front and back.
